Commissioned around 1600 CE by Malla King Bir Hambir, Rasmancha is the oldest brick structure in Bishnupur and unique in all of India. Resting on a high square laterite plinth, it is crowned by a stepped pyramid-like roof surrounded by Bengal-style chala hut turrets and arched galleries where deities were displayed during the Ras festival.
