Tughlaqabad Fort Stone Citadel (1321 CE)

📍 Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Tughlakabad, New Delhi 110044

Built in just four years by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Tughlaq in 1321 CE, Tughlaqabad was the third historic city of Delhi. Stretching along a rocky Aravalli ridge, its cyclopean defensive granite walls rise up to 30 meters with two-tier battlements, subterranean granaries, and 13 surviving gates. Legend holds that Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya cursed the fort to remain deserted or inhabited only by nomadic Gujjars.
